Yonex is high-proclaimed for their great high-end badminton rackets but they also make great budget rackets as well. I picked this Yonex Muscle Power 2 Racket one up a few weeks ago to have a play with and it’s very promising! Coming in at 27″ length perfect for any adult player it comes strung for you so you don’t have to deal with that extra hassle. The aesthetics of the racket itself are very appealing as well, coming in either magenta or red color.
The racket is balanced in weight so it’s perfect for all badminton players who want an all-rounded racket to swing around with. It has the typical isometric head shape that most rackets have and weighs just under 100 grams! A very nice weight for the price. In parallel with the weight.
The actual build of the racket consists of an aluminum frame and steel shaft for increased durability. This also creates a stiff flex within the racket making lighter dabs more effective in-game.
Within the match I played, I never felt uncomfortable. The grip is nicely cushioned with a G4 size which fits most hands. The grip is easy to hold and doesn’t slip for me even with sweating palms. The racket feels very natural when being swung and is very easy to stop mid-swing.
Being balanced allows it to apply either great or lesser force dependant on the player’s input. Other rackets are much more sensitive when hitting the shuttlecock. But this one is in the middle. It was easy to return shuttlecocks and it allowed me to move quickly not being weighed down in any way. The serving was also very easy with this racket with its stiff build.
Overall this is a very good budget racket for any starter badminton player. It has a very good overall strength and lightness. It would be seen as a jack of all trades racket being balanced. Over time people may change rackets to suit their needs but this is a definitive great starting point for any aspiring player.
